When Nick walked into the room, you knew he had arrived.
His smile, his personality seemed to be bigger than life. He would engage the entire room with his hysterical, yet smart, sense of humor. When he coined a phrase everyone seem to follow, young and old alike. He repeatedly said to his friends “We have to go snowboarding this winter.” He couldn’t tell you enough about his dad and how much he loved him.
Despite his personal demons with addiction, Nick loved life. He was one of the first in line when Frontline Foundations sought volunteers to participate in and help critique our pilot recovery program. On his sixth program visit, Nick made a chilling statement, “I think I’m going to die.” When asked, “Nick, how much time do you think you have? You are not promised your tomorrow. Why not stop right now?” The group sat quietly and listened for an answer no one knew, but one they would hear quite loudly. Nick passed away tragically three days later.
Nationally, 1 in every 4 homes has a family member dealing with substance abuse. Frontline Foundation’s mission is to provide substance abuse recovery support to young men and women in the age range of 18-25.
It is our honor to dedicate our work, our mission and our passion in the memory of Nick Canazoneri and to all the many young many and women who continue to lose this battle against drugs.
